Well I started writing this blog on Saturday with all good intentions of posting it then……it is now Monday the 30th of May and I thought that I should let you know what has happened the rest of the week.
Firstly there has been no more sleeping in, which has been nice. Wednesday was a morning of training for a Networking group I am part of. I have been asked if I can be the host for the meeting so I get to use my voice every other Friday and be in charge, more on that later in the blog. Wednesday afternoon was catching up trying to get my desk looking like a desk and not a dumping ground for paper! Maybe I should start a waste paper company, from my desk!
Thursday morning Paul and I attending the Middlesbrough Business Forum at La Pharmacie, the event was quiet as the Hitachi Open day was on. But the speakers were excellent; they were Martin and Peter from Python Properties. I had heard a little bit about their story and vision before but this time was inspiring, and they mentioned in the talk that they were member of the Entrepreneurs Forum http://www.entrepreneursforum.net/home/index.php so straight after the talk Paul and I headed over to see them to discuss further. WOW they had nothing but praise and excellent stories about their mentor and how he has helped their business in the last three years.
In the afternoon we were visited by Simon from The Manufacturing Advisory Service to look at embarking on a project with one of their advisors. The project was all signed off and we were given the go ahead, which is great news as we will be able to move the business on with some great help and guidance. The remainder of the afternoon was spent cleaning, tidying and organizing the warehouse as we had an Environment Agency inspection the following day.
Friday and we started at 5am as we were off networking in Middlesbrough, meeting from 7 till 8.30, great start to a Friday, it was my first meeting hosting it and it went extremely well. 9am a meeting with a VERY large North East company who wanted to discuss our services with them. Paul and I went and expected the meeting to be 30 mins, two hours later and we had been accepted as a contractor and have a duty of care inspection in the next few weeks. What a great start to the day!! Back to the office for an hour and them off out for a RGF meeting at Teesside University with the NISP team, great meeting but I think at this stage way out of our league and we certainly are not ready for anything like that. Fly back to the office and get ready for the Environment agency inspection, arhhhhh scary TWO of them turned up…..I am not normally nervous but I was at this point. Anyway their inspection went extremely well and we were granted out latest permit! Time for a beer, and relax!!
Friday night was a bit of an anticlimax as we had worked so hard all week for Friday day and we get home and I just felt a little deflated by having nothing to do. Hey ho, the ups and downs!
Saturday morning back to the office, we had Tim our web developer coming over to do some work on the website. Tim is brilliant and he flew through the work we set him, check out one of the pages http://www.innov8disposal.com/about/meet-the-team-2/ we were only going to work till 2 or 3 ish, oh dear at 5 o clock one of us noticed the time and the four of us headed home, a great day and we achieved lots! Saturday night we headed over to see my Mum (or the oracle) she gives us advice and helps us both make major decisions in the company, she is totally invaluable and I really don’t know what we would do without her, she is so sensible and looks at the big picture.
I am going to blog tomorrow about what we did on Sunday and today as there is too much to tell you all here and there is even more exciting news (surely not I hear you say)! Well there is and that is enough from me this evening I hope you have all had a good night and don’t forget to vote for me www.ifwecanyoucan.co.uk/challenge look for Louise Moore and vote, you can also vote via text by typing VOTE LOUISE MOORE and texting it to 07624 803199.
